From President & Dean William C. Koch, Jr.:
The good news is that the clouds of the pandemic that have interfered with our lives since March 2000 are lifting. The bad news is that they have not lifted enough to enable Nashville School of Law to hold our Annual Recognition Dinner this year. Current health and safety concerns outweigh our growing, collective desire to see each other in person again.
I am delighted to report to you that our students, faculty, and staff rose to the occasion during the 2020-2021 school year. They have been resilient, agile, and good-natured. We have completed a full year of hybrid learning – with students making the choice to learn virtually or in person. Our faculty, mastering new technology skills, taught both online and in person at the same time and did an excellent job presenting the courses to the ‟Zoomies” and the ‟Roomies.”
The Class of 2021 attended an in-person graduation. Social distancing and masks were required, and limitations were placed on the number of guests each graduate could invite.
The Board and I are grateful for all the support Nashville School of Law has seen, especially in this challenging year. We humbly ask that those who are able continue your support again this year. Gifts to the School have enabled us not only to continue operations with only minimal interruption, but also to acquire the technology needed to offer effective remote classes and to add teaching resources to better equip our first-year students for success in law school. As we begin summer classes with 100% in-person attendance and look forward to welcoming one of the largest entering classes we have had in many years, we recognize and applaud your support of this amazing institution. The COVID-19 pandemic is just the latest storm Nashville School of Law has weathered in its 110-year history. And, as we have in the past, we have emerged stronger and ready to change lives as we train tomorrow’s lawyers.
Please join the Board and me to raise a glass to salute our School and to share your good fortune with the students following in your footsteps. We have already started planning next year’s in-person Annual Recognition Dinner. Mark June 10, 2022 on your calendar and plan to join us in Nashville. I look forward to seeing you there.
Best personal regards,
William C. Koch, Jr.
